Why Did Electricity Prices Fall in England and Wales?
Regulatory interventions in England & Wales caused wholesale electricity companies to use different fuel generators and use a coal-fired plant. Fresh Electricity Trading Arrangements ('NETA') extended NETA to Scotland, because the British Electricity Trading and Transmission Arrangements (BETTA) can not profit customers without conjointly breaking the rules. The electrical utilities tend to hedge most of their output with forward contract sales in the spot they promote. This plug behavior of electric utilities is clear in England and Wales, where wholesale electricity is sold in spot markets that are, to some extent, lined by long-term contracts.

Electricity in England: Your Travel Voltage Fundamentals
Here's what you need to know. Some localities have a 110 Volts, but 50 cycles is the standard frequency no matter the voltage throughout France, Italy, Germany, England, Spain, and the rest of Europe. The transformer changes the input voltage to the voltage required by the electronic gizmo's battery and the rectifier changes the electricity from AC to DC. It's reported that some parts of Europe are wired for DC electricity within the homes, though I suspect that this is often not true.
The electric power frequency is shown in the number of hertz (cycles per second).

Public Electricity Suppliers in England
Public electricity suppliers (PES) in England were comprised of 14 private corporations. In the early 90s, about 1/2 of those private companies in England and Wales were changed into independent regional. In 2000, as part of the restructuring and Utilities Act 2000, the general public electricity suppliers needed to own separate licenses. This gave rise to competition in the electricity trade in England and Wales. When the electricity industry was privatized, the government made structural changes to encourage competition amongst companies and provided consumers a cost savings.

Using US Electronics in England - Concerns About Electricty and Adapters
The question arises if one can use their US purchased electronics in England. For example, last year I brought my iPod Shuffle from the US to England. I found that it wasn't too much of a problem to and long as I used the US-to-UK prong adapter. If you are having trouble with this apple product, you can call 1-800-my-apple. If you are visiting make use of a step down power converter, unless the dock will convert the voltage from 220 to 110v. For electronics you must really have a step down converter and engineered in stabilizer.

Electricity in England
England has its unique set of problems and concerns around electricity and their energy consumption. Companies provide electricity, and historically is has been safe to use a generator. With modern times, the way electricity is delivered and the data and understanding around it shifts to a certain degree. Like what do you do about areas where there is no electricity? Doe the electricity harm computers or electronic tools? Do you need batteries or flashlights when the lights go out. Other questions arise as well, like what's the household AC electrical power mains voltage within the UK?
